CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University rebounded from its two loses last week with a 73-62 win at home Monday over Olivet Nazarene University. The win completed a home-and-away sweep of the ONU Tigers - the third home-and-away sweep of a team from the 2011 NAIA National Tournament.
Moments before tipoff, Campbellsville moved up three spots to No. 22 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll Top 25 released by the NAIA national office in Kansas City.

On the court Monday, Campbellsville trailed for the first nine minutes until
Cedric Henderson hit a 3-pointer to give the maroon Tigers a 16-14 lead. The 3-pointer was the first of 15 points for the senior point guard and ended a three-game drought for Henderson beyond the arc. The two Tiger teams traded leads six times before the break before Campbellsville took a 33-30 lead into halftime after a 3-pointer from
Reggie Smith, who led the CU with 16 points.
Campbellsville maintained its lead to start the second half, but Olivet Nazarene took a 47-46 lead moments before the first media time out under 12 minutes. Campbellsville came out of the time out and went on a run, going up by seven, 53-47, on a 3-pointer by Campbellsville native
Bryton Taylor. The basket was Taylor's first attempt in his CU debut after redshirting in 2010-11 and sitting out the fall semester. The 3 helped give CU a three-possession lead, which it never relinquished.
While CU head coach Keith Adkins was pleased with a win, he still sees room for improvement with his team.
"We kind of laid down the law at halftime. We've got some guys not following through with how we want to get things done, ranging from scouting reports, to instructions out of time outs or halftime adjustments. I've made idol threats in the recent weeks that I was going to mix things up. At halftime, I'd seen enough, and every single player on our bench played in the second half tonight," Adkins said. "It's very important that you're ready when your number is called, and we had some guys that took advantage of their opportunity tonight."
Taylor was one of those, hitting the big 3-pointer, claiming a loose ball and blocking a shot during CU's lead-stretching run. Another player Adkins pointed out is CU golfer
Trey Shirley, who was pulled up from the Tigers' junior varsity basketball team in December.
"That's all we ask, is do what you're supposed to. Hopefully that message got across (to the entire team), because, if not, we'll have to give more guys an opportunity," Adkins said.
During the game Monday, Campbellsville turned the ball over 14 times, including nine in the first half. Adkins pointed to the turnovers after the game as an area he'd like to fix on offense, while giving up open shots on defense being another fixing point.
Antonio Marshall led Olivet Nazarene with 19 points, with Torey Laferney scoring 13 with the help of three 3-pointers.
Justin Ennis also scored in double figures for CU with 13.
Campbellsville (12-5, 1-4 MSC) will have this Thursday off before hosting St. Catharine College in Mid-South Conference play at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14. The game will be televised on WLCU-TV (Comcast Cable channel 10) and will be broadcast on the radio on WLCU 88.7 FM (
