OWENSBORO, Ky. - Six Campbellsville University cross country runners posted season-best times and four set personal records Saturday, Oct. 13 in the Fast Cats Classic.
"I am very pleased with how the team performed this past weekend," said head coach Hilary Cebulko. "We just need to focus more on grouping as a team in the races. We have one more race until conference so we have some things to work on so we can perform our best."
In the men's 8k run, personal records were set by freshmen Luke Camp (30:58), Dylan Ford (27:48), and William Pearson (30:39). Sophomore Brett Pearson also set a personal record at 27:14 to lead the team and place 22nd out of the 86 participants. Ford was close behind, coming in at 26th.
Two Tigers achieved their top season time as well. Junior Bradley Harris finished 35th with a time of 28:22 while sophomore Kyle Howdeyshell came in only three places behind Harris, finishing with a time of 28:27.
The men came in fourth place overall, out of eight teams.
The Lady Tigers ended the day in 6th place, with a total of 164 points. Four runners achieved their best season times in the 5k run, including senior Natasha Janes (22:08), junior Bekah Southwood (20:56), sophomore Sarah Johnson (20:34), and freshman Mallory Vest (22:24). Johnson's score was the top for the Lady Tigers in the meet.
The teams will be traveling to St. Louis, Mo. this upcoming weekend to compete in the St. Louis Invitational. To follow the Tigers, go to www.campbellsvilletigers.com.
