Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Fifteenth-ranked Shorter University was too much for No. 22 Campbellsville University coming out of a rain delay Friday afternoon at Lagoon Park. The Lady Tigers fell to Shorter, 8-1, in the Auburn University-Montgomery Spring Invitational.
Anna Tumanyan and
Aspen Edwards teamed up to narrowly defeat Shorter's Alicia Gallard and Margot Vetter at No. 2 doubles, 9-7, for Campbellsville's only win in the match. Tymanyan also forced a close match at No. 1 singles, but fell short to Candice Laurent, ranked No. 22 nationally. Laurent squeaked out a 7-6 win in the first set, followed by a 7-6 second-set win for Tumanyan, before Laurent won a proset tie breaker, 10-8.
Campbellsville (2-1) will continue play in the AUM Spring Invitational Saturday at Lagoon Park.
