Box Score INDIANAPOLIS -- Twentieth-ranked Campbellsville University women's tennis hit the road Friday for the start of a two-day, three-match weekend in Indiana and Ohio. The Lady Tigers defeated No. 23 Marian University, 5-4, on its home courts after moving the match inside due to rain.
With Campbellsville tailing in all three doubles matches, rain began to fall, forcing the matches indoors.
Anna Tumanyan and
Aspen Edwards rallied to win No. 1 doubles, 8-5, while
Megan Charity and
Jenna Sallee held off a match point try by Marian to win No. 2 doubles 9-8 (7). The match proved to be the turning point of the day and a decisive match.
After dropping the first three singles matches,
Lindy Charity made a comeback from 5-1 down in the second set to defeat Lauren Paras 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4 singles. At No. 6 singles,
Kristen Hamrick clinched the match after having trailed all the way in the third set.
Aspen Edwards also had a strong third-set victory.
The Lady Tigers' road trip continues tomorrow, taking on Walsh University at 8 a.m. EDT on the Marian University tennis courts. Following the match, the Lady Tigers will travel to Portsmouth, Ohio for a Mid-South Conference match at Shawnee State University at 4 p.m.
