Box Score 2 INDIANAPOLIS/PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - No. 20 Campbellsville University women's tennis split a long day on the road Saturday, dropping an early morning match to Walsh University, 5-4, in Indianapolis and closing the day with a 9-0 shutout at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio.
The Lady Tigers fell behind in three close doubles losses Saturday morning against Walsh in the Marian University Tournament. CU looked to rally in singles play.
Megan Charity started the rally with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles. As Campbellsville took leads in its three, five and six singles positions, Walsh took a 4-1 lead with a No. 4 singles win by Allison St. George, 6-3 and 6-2, over Aspen Edwards. Anna Tumanyan lost a close match to Shellie Webster, 6-4 and 6-4, at No. 1 singles to clinch the win for Walsh. CU finished by winning its remaining singles for a 5-4 loss.
Following the close loss, the Lady Tigers loaded their van and made a four-hour, 226-mile trip to Shawnee State for a Mid-South Conference match. The Lady Tigers made quick work of the Bears with 6-0, 6-0 wins for Lindy Charity and Edwards at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Megan Charity and Kristen Hamrick also won a set 6-0.
Campbellsville (8-4, 3-1 MSC) will hit the road again Wednesday, April 4 with a trip to the University of Virginia's College at Wise in a MSC match at 4 p.m. EDT. The match is a make-up from a rain out March 23.
