MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Lady Tigers were unable to pull out a victory this past weekend at the Auburn University of Montgomery Spring Invitational. Despite their three losses, sophomore Megan Charity went 2-1 in the singles portion of the tournament, knocking off a ranked opponent, her sole defeat coming from the No. 1 player in the country.

"Megan did very well, especially in singles," said head coach Kyle Caven. "Our team as a whole is growing. Unfortunately we had several matches rained out before we went down there so we are really just getting our match legs in. We have some work to do but overall we did well, we just haven't pulled it all together yet."

CU lost the match, 7-2, against the College of Coastal Georgia on Friday, its sole victories coming in singles competition. Anna Tumanyan defeated Elektra Hunter in a super tie break at No. 1 singles, while Charity took the win at No. 2 singles over CCG's Kristina Polakovic in two sets (6-2, 6-2).

The South African's only loss came Saturday against AUM's No. 1 Tiffany William.  Jenna Sallee and Ana Farias each won their matches over AUM. Sallee defeated Fernanda Vargas in a super tie breaker, and Farias won by forfeit.

Sallee and Kelsie Peckham won the doubles competition by forfeit as well. AUM still clutched the victory, though, 6-3.

On Sunday, Charity, currently ranked No. 49, took away a big victory over No. 36 Brion Flowers of Xavier University on the final day of competition. The women played a full three sets, Charity winning the final two (5-7, 6-3, 7-6).

Sallee managed a two-set victory over Simone-Alyse Ewell (6-6, 6-3). Another win came from freshman Haley Dallas, who beat XU's Vashni Balleste.

The Lady Tigers finished the weekend with a 6-3 loss to Xavier.

The next CU matches will be Wednesday, March 13 at Center College beginning at 3:30 EDT. To follow the teams, go to www.campbellsvilletigers.com.
