Box Score 2 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University dropped its first Mid-South Conference game of the season, 2-1, but responded with a 2-0 win to split a doubleheader with the University of Virginia's College at Wise on Friday at HIG Field.

The loss snapped an 11-game win streak for the Tigers.
CU was held to two runs in the first game, both off the bat of Michael Bush, as Steven Klaiber pitched a complete game, nine-inning shutout for the Cavaliers. He allowed only one walk and struck out four.
Wise scored a run in both the first and third innings. With one out in the first, Micahel McCollom doubled and later scored on a ground out by Tommy Meier. Chaz Hall doubled to start the third inning and scored on a ground out by Steven Allen.
Campbellsville rallied in the eighth with Brandon Johnson reaching on an error to start the inning. Travis Hayes also reached on an error, putting runners on the corners. Tanner Nielsen bunted across Levi McCamish, who was running for Johnson. Bush also reached on an error, placing runners on the corners again, but both were stranded after Keaton Neeb flew out to center. CU was retired in order in the ninth.
The Tigers left five runners on base in the game and were unable to capitalize on four Wise errors. Patrick McMeel recorded the loss in a nine-inning game, allowing only four hits and a walk. He struck out nine.
In the second game, Campbellsville rode a 2-0 lead from the third inning on. Schwoebel led off the third with a walk and Nielsen delivered a one-out single to put runners on the corners. Bush followed with a double to score both runs. He finished the day with three hits and two RBIs.
CU collected only one more hit in the game, while Wise had four hits but were held at bay by CU starter Bret DeRooy, who pitched a complete-game, seven-inning win without giving up a walk, despite hitting two batters. He struck out six.
Justin Wilson took the loss in game two, allowing two earned runs off three hits and two walks through six innings. He struck out four.
Campbellsville (20-5, 6-1 MSC) will return to action Saturday at noon for a nine-inning game to wrap up the three-game MSC series.
