Lady Tigers win MSC quarterfinal under the lights

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University hosted its first-ever night tennis match at the CU Tennis Courts Tuesday night for the quarterfinal round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament. The match, which was scheduled to begin Wednesday at 10 a.m. was bumped up to Tuesday night at 9 p.m. due to an impending thunderstorm. Despite the late hour, the Lady Tigers advanced past the University of Virginia's College at Wise, 5-0, to Friday's semifinal in Lexington.

The women won all doubles matches by more than four points. In both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, the teams of Anna Tumanyan/Haley Dallas and Lindy Charity/Jenna Sallee, respectively, allowed their opponents only one point, winning 8-1. Lindy Charity and Kelsie Peckham paired up to defeat UVA-Wise's Lauren Powers and Melissa Blackburn, 8-3.

Megan Charity and Jenna Sallee, who claimed victory in doubles play against the Cavs' Megan Buchanan and Junetta Nuckles, rematched against them individually in singles play. Charity, in the No. 2 spot, edged Buchanan for the second time this evening, in 6-0 and 6-1. Sallee duplicated that very same score versus her No. 4 opponent Junetta Nuckles. The match was called after those two wins, because CU was already over the edge point-wise.

Campbellsville (11-8) will meet Cumberland University (13-5) in the MSC Semifinals on Friday, April 19 at 11 a.m. EDT.
