Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lady Tiger tennis team breezed over Centre College in a rescheduled match Tuesday night. Only allowing one point to the Colonels, Campbelsville University defeated Centre, 8-1.
CU now sits at a 12-10 record as it enters the National Christian College Athletic Association Tournament next week. Centre drops to 5-11.
In doubles action, No. 1 and No. 2 victories were captured in identical scores. The team of Anna Tumanyan and Megan Charity took down No. 1 opponents Kathryn Hays and Elise Decamp, and Lindy Charity did the same to the No. 2 Centre team of Katie Howard and Alexandra Tolsdorf, both with scores of 8-1.
CU had no trouble winning every singles match. Tumanyan and Charity captured easy victories in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Tumanyan, although she was forced to win by two in the first set, 7-5, came back strong to defeat Centre's Hays 6-1 in the next set. Megan Charity only allowed two points to Decamp in each set, as she took the match 6-2 and 6-2. In the No.3 spot, Lindy Charity recorded a 6-0, 7-5 win over Katie Howard. Sallee also got another win on the day, defeating No. 4 opponent Abby Tudor. Haley Dallas captured a win over Centre's No. 5, winning 6-1 and 6-0. Completing the singles sweep was CU's Kelsie Peckham, who defeated Jenna Hazelwood in 6-2 and 6-3.
The Lady Tigers will return to action in two weeks, in the first tournament of postseason play. The NCCAA National Tennis Tournament, held in Mobile, Ala., will begin on May 7, times TBA.
