LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville men's cross country teams made history today as they finished 2nd of 34 teams that competed in the men's Silver Race of the Greater Louisville Classic. Tallying a total team score of 153, the Tigers raced to their highest finish ever at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park, finishing runner-up.

Brett Pierce crossed the finish line in 12
th place, running the muddy eight-kilometer course in a season personal best of 26:18.43.
Sophomore Adam Sandidge was just four men behind, running a 26:23.16 for 16th place.
Rounding out the top 25 in the 306-man field was freshman Bret Crawford, who set a career personal record at 26:47.66, placing 25th. Seniors Joey Hartlage and Dylan Ford finished in 41st and 61st place, with respective times of 27:02.29 and 27:28.76. Sophomore Zach Napier had a career day as he finished in 28 minutes, 22.78 seconds, shaving over 30 seconds off his previous best.
Will Ballard was the last Tiger to score team points, rounding out the Tiger team points by finishing in 28:56.46, also a career best.
Individual runners for the Tigers were Corbin Harris (187th, 29:23.29), Ross Allen (245th, 30:05.14), and Wade Harris (292nd, 31:23.30).
CU finished in second only to Indiana University's Running Club, made up of several of IU's cross-country alumni. Spencer Head of Dalton State took the individual Silver Race title, finishing in 25:10.34.
The Lady Tigers also recorded some season bests today as they competed in the women's five-kilometer Silver Race. They placed 33rd out of 44 teams, with a total team score of 776.
Senior Maggie Calvert led the Lady Tiger effort with a 73rd-place finish in 20:18.79 seconds, a season best. Freshman Julianna Bradley finished in a career-best time of 21:26.67, placing 181st. Senior Mallory Vest was third for CU, placing 213th in 21:51.86. Sophomore Abby Wicke recorded a season-best time coming in 13 spots later in 22:05.06.
Finishing out the scoring for the Lady Tigers were freshman Elise Shainfeld and junior Brandi Thomas, finishing within one second of each other. Shainfield (242nd) and Thomas (245th) both recorded season bests at 22:16.22 and 22:17.16, respectively.
Alabama State took the women's Silver Race title with 82 team points, while Stephani Johnston from Concordia took first individually 18:39.66.

CU cross country will be in action again in just six days on Friday, Oct. 9, at the NAIA Preview Meet in Charlotte, N.C. Race times are set for 4 p.m. for the women and 5 p.m. for the men.
