"Racing today at Phil Moore Park gives us an idea how the course is going to run," said Lakes. "These meets give us comfort. There won't be any fear of the course itself. We can just go in and race.
"It is also special to come to Bowling Green and have a lot of support. It is close enough for parents to come and cheer on the team."
Both the men's and women's teams got a preview of their conference competition as well.
"It's good to see where everybody sits in conference," said Lakes. "Nobody is at their peak yet, but it's a good idea of what we need to work on the rest of the season."
Next weekend, Saturday, Oct. 3, the men's and women's cross country teams will head to Louisville for the Greater Louisville Classic.
