CU (2-1) got on the board in the bottom of the first when Hailey Szpila's double plated Brittany Rippy and Rebecca Miller. Rippy led off the inning with a walk and Miller followed with a single.
After the Skyhawks tied the game 2-2 in the top of the third on two hits, a walk and an error, Szpila came through again — this time with a two-run triple. Miller and Shelby Ray both reached on singles in the frame.
Leading 4-2 going into the bottom of the sixth, CU plated four runs on four hits and a couple of Point errors.
Rachel Denkins, pinch hitting for Destiney Taul, collected a one-out double and Ray followed with a single. Ray stole second and Rippy's sacrifice to center scored Taul. Ray scored on an errant throw home. Miller picked up her third hit of the game and Brianna Scott doubled her home, to push the lead to 8-2.
Point (9-4) threatened in the top of the seventh, getting the Skyhawks' first two batters on with no outs.
Neely Quint (2-0) picked up the win, throwing a nine-hitter while striking out six.
Both teams committed three errors apiece.

The reigning NAIA World Series champions, AUMÂ Warhawks, got a couple of two-out runs in the bottom of the first inning and that's all they needed in putting Campbellsville away, 2-0.
Victoria Decker (0-2) was the hard-luck loser, pitching six innings and giving up four hits, walking two and striking out five. After retiring Jennifer Jenkins and Rose Schmidt, AUM's first inning was kept alive with a two-out error. It proved to be costly.
Campbellsville left four runners stranded, two in the second inning when Hailey Szpila and Markie Smith were hit by pitches with no one out, and in the sixth when Rebecca Miller reached on an error. Adrean Jordan's single in the seventh broke up Taylor Powell's no-hitter.
Powell pitched all seven innings for AUM (5-1), scoring the winning run in the bottom of the first and giving up one hit. She did not walk a batter and struck out 12.
The Lady Tigers have two more games tomorrow (Feb. 20) in Alabama when they go up against Mobile (10:00) and William Carey (2:00) on Day 2 of the AUM/Faulkner Classic. Live stats will be made available. HERE.
