CEDARVILLE, Ohio —
Halima Williams stole the thunder for Campbellsville indoor track and field, finishing with a new school record and recorded one of the eight NCCAA national cuts set tonight by the Tigers.
Williams won the weight throw with a mark of 12.14 meters – which not only set an NCCAA cut but also shattered the school record. The previous record was set at 12.09 meters by teammate
Deja Thompson.
On the men's side in the throws,
Aaron Johnson and
Stuart Nichols both eclipsed the NCCAA standard in the weight throw. Johnson finished at 13.64 meters and Nichols followed suit throwing 13.24 meters.
For the second-straight week,
Paxton Wiley improved on his NCCAA high jump mark, jumping 1.87 meters – eclipsing his previous mark by 0.4 meters. Wiley also set an NCCAA mark in the long jump with teammate
Garland Webb. Wiley jumped 6.22 meters, while Webb finished just a bit higher at 6.34 meters
In addition to Wiley,
Clayton Embry picked up an NCCAA cut in the 60-meter hurdles. Wiley crossed the finish line in 7.94 seconds while Embry finished in 8.51 seconds.
Joey Hartlage rounded out the scoring for the Tigers with a sixth place finish and scoring five points in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 9:09.68.
For the Lady Tigers,
Kelsey Feltner scored four points by qualifying in the 55-meter finals and finishing in fifth place at 7.80 seconds.
Feltner and Williams were the lone Lady Tigers to score points, finishing with 14.
Campbellsville will have a week before competing again. This time the Tigers and Lady Tigers will be traveling to the DePauw University Invitational in Greencastle, Ind.
