LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville University women's track and field team opened their 2025-26 season on Saturday in Louisville, holding its own against a competitive field of Division I and top-level NAIA programs.

- Makiyah Allen scored big, finishing second in the 60m hurdles (8.93) and posting strong times in the 60m (7.97) and 200m (26.63).
- Becca Stringer placed fourth in the mile (6:00.31), with Meredith Wilson close behind in 6:10.96.
- Distance standout Julia Smaldone set a season-best in the 3000m (11:43.95), helping the Tigers score early points.
- Kayla Barr and Layla Taylor hit big throws, highlighted by Barr's personal record in the shot put (11.57m) and Taylor's personal record in the weight throw (11.83m).
Senior Allen led the way in the short sprints, clocking 7.97 seconds in the 60m and 26.63 seconds in the 200m, while also advancing to the 60m hurdles final, where she finished second in 8.93 seconds, scoring valuable points for the Tigers. Allen's versatile performances set the tone for a strong start to the season.
Sprinters also made their presence felt. Elizabeth Kamara finished 22nd in the 60m (8.22) and 14th in the 200m (27.37), while Tayanah Woods and Alexzandria Rivers clocked competitive times in both events.
In the distance races, Stringer ran a strong 6:00.31 in the mile, placing fourth, followed closely by senior Wilson in 6:10.96. The distance squad also saw notable performances from Smaldone, who set a season-best 11:43.95 in the 3000m, earning five points. In the same event, Emma Madding (11:52.17), Karly Spalding (11:53.89), and Amelia Larson (11:57.01) added depth and scoring for the Tigers.
The Tigers were active in the field as well. Jones placed fourth in the high jump, while Dasia Garland put together a jumps series, taking seventh in the long jump (4.88m / 16-00.25) and fifth in the triple jump (11.13m / 36-06.25). Freshman Kariana Harrigan added a point in the long jump with her 4.80m (15-09) finish.
The throws group produced big results, with junior Barr setting a personal record in the shot put (11.57m / 37-11.5) and returning for a 13.60m weight throw, while junior Taylor picked up a new personal record in the weight throw (11.83m / 38-09.75).
The Tigers will return to action at the Indiana Tech Warrior Invite in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on December 11-12, continuing their early-season campaign.
