COLUMBIA, SC –
Makiyah Allen led Campbellsville this week at the NCCAA Championships, earning 18 individual points.
Allen earned her first All-American of the weekend in the 100m finals. She placed 3rd overall in 12.37. Allen was the runner-up in her specialty, the 100m hurdles, with a time of 14.45. In her final event of the weekend, Allen earned the team four more points in the 200m finals in a time of 25.38. Teammate
Piper Clark gained two points in the 200m finals at 25.77. Clark added five more points to his name in the 400m, placing 5th at 58.05.
Christy Shank improved upon her school record in the 800m with her 3rd-place time of 2:13.65. Shank's second All-American came from the 1500m run. She was the runner-up at 4:43.63. She led the 4x800m relay team to a 3rd-place All-American finish of 9:38.90 with
Brianna Collins, Anna-Claire Carwile, and
Maggie Jewell also on the relay team.
Emma Madding scored one point in the 10,000m run in 41:30.60.
Kenniqua Grate made her second NCCAA podium of her career in the high jump. Grate hit a personal best height of 1.62m in her second jump.
Dasia Garland was only .05m off an All-American finish in the long jump with her best jump of 5.24m. Garland made her way to the podium in the triple jump, where she hit a mark of 11.26m on her second attempt.
As a team, Campbellsville finished in 6th with 63 team points.
The Tigers will now look ahead to the NAIA Outdoor National Championship, which will be held May 21-23. Campbellsville will have only two athletes running at the NAIA Championships.
