Brianna Scott's big day fuels sweep of Shawnee State

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Brianna Scott's career day at the plate fueled a couple of 9-0 wins today at Veterans Memorial Park as Campbellsville swept Shawnee State in the first two games of a four-game weekend series.

Scott smashed two home runs in each game and drove in nine runs as the Lady Tigers ran their record to 22-7, 7-1 MSC.

GAME 1: Campbellsville 8, Shawnee State 0

Victoria Decker (11-4) pitched a one-hitter, allowing only a leadoff single in the second inning to Hannah Ditto, as Brianna Scott's two-run homer in the third inning was all CU would need.

Decker struck out seven and did not walk a batter.

In Campbellsville's 10-hit attack, six came off the bats of Scott and Adrean Jordan. Jordan had a single and two doubles and drove in a run. Scott added a second two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth.

Shelby Ray, Morgan Gailor, Madison Mudd and Jacqueline Roof had singles in the game to set the table for Scott's big day.

GAME 2: Campbellsville 9, Shawnee State 0

Neely Quint (11-3) pitched three innings of three-hit ball and CU got shutout innings of relief from Morgan Gailor and Rachel Denkins to preserve the win.

Campbellsville scored two runs in the first inning off Scott's third home run of the day and put the game out of reach with a five-spot in the third, punctuated by Scott's fourth home run of the day — a three-run shot to center.

Scott was 5-for-5 for the day with four home runs and nine RBIs.

Hailey Szpila had a two-hit game and Jacqueline Roof, Shelby Ray, Markie Smith, Morgan Gailor and Madison Mudd all reached safely.

Shawnee State (9-11, 2-4 MSC) left five runners on base in the first three innings and committed five fielding errors.

Campbellsville will be right back at Veterans Memorial Park tomorrow against Shawnee State with a noon first pitch for the MSC doubleheader.
