LAS VEGAS, Nev. —
Christina French represented the archery team from Campbellsville University at the 17th Annual World Archery Festival in the Recurve Basic Bow division.
The Vegas tournament competed in two different collegiate shooting assignments. The First assignment was in the USCA Female Bare Bow division where she shared a three-way tie for sixth place.
In the second, she competed in the Vegas World Festival Archery tournament where she was listed in recurve flight 10 — shooting against young adults and older adults, where she ended up ranked 19th.
In both shooting systems, French gathered a total of 460 points over the three-day event. The tournament is a first-time archery representation for Campbellsville University at such a national and global archery event.
Coach
Larry Creason and Rita Creason, director of student records and French's mother, were in attendance lending support during the event.
For all divisions — basic bow, bow hunter, and compound — shot approximately 180 arrows at a given target all three days combined. Each arrow's maximum score that could be received was worth five points for a grand total of 900 points. Basic bow is a division where the archer does not use sights, a release or anything except the bow and an arrow rest.
At this tournament, French faced individuals all across the world from Israel to Japan. There were a total of 3,406 archers competing between all of the different divisions.
