Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — No. 2 Lindsey Wilson was too much for the Lady Tigers on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Campbellsville 9-0.
The Lady Tigers (3-3, 1-1 MSC) had chances to earn match points at Nos. 1, 2 and 5 singles but lost all three in the third set.
The Blue Raiders (11-4, 1-0 MSC) won all three doubles points to start the day.
Kyleigh Murray and
Brooklyn Harris lost at No. 3 doubles and
Bolor Enkhbayar and
Grace Rowe lost at No. 2 with matching 8-1 scores.
At No. 1 doubles, Kaeda Amano and
Majella Nobile gave LWC's Maria Prados Cid and Fiona Curty all they wanted but ended up galling, 8-6.
In singles, the Blue Raiders earned their first point at No. 4, as Nobile fell 6-1, 6-2, to Curty. Lindsey Wilson's Prados Cid then sealed the match for the Blue Raiders with a win at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0, over Murray.
The sixth match to finish was No. 1 singles and Amano rallied in the second set with No. 12 Alex Shchipakina. But Shchipakina won in three, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
At No. 2 singles, Enkhbayar also had a valiant effort and didn't go down without a fight. She got behind one-set to none after a 6-0 first-set loss but rallied to win 6-2 in the second set and force a third. Gligic got the best of her, though, winning 7-5 in the third set.
Rowe had a chance to steal a point for CU but also lost in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 10-3. Rounding out singles was Harris falling 6-1, 6-0 to Jovana Peric.
Campbellsville will now host three more Mid-South Conference matches next week, starting with University of the Cumberlands on Wednesday, March 29. CU also hosts University of Pikeville on Thursday, March 30 before ending the week with a Sunday matchup against Shawnee State on April 2.
