Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Lady Tiger tennis led 2-1 after doubles and only needed one win at Nos. 4, 5, or 6 singles to seal the match but No. 20 University of the Cumberlands rallied to win all three and upset Campbellsville, 5-4.
Campbellsville, which moved to No. 18 in the NAIA rankings this week, falls to 3-4 overall on the season, while Cumberlands improved to 9-6.
Cumberlands won the first doubles match at No. 3, as the sister duo of Denee and Luka Lyttle defeated
Kyleigh Murray and
Brooklyn Harris, 8-1.
Campbellsville came right back in doubles to win Nos. 1-2.
Bolor Enkhbayar and
Grace Rowe both defeated Maria Ochoa and Marian Bogajo, 8-1, then CU's top double duo of
Kaede Amano and
Majella Nobile defeated Isabella Dale and Jaclyn Jewell, 8-5.
After doubles, it was Dale defeating Amano, 6-0, 6-1 but Campbellsville won Nos. 2-3 to take a 4-2 match lead. Enkhbayar took down Ochoa in a nail-bitter, 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) and Nobile took down Jewell, 6-0, 7-6.
Cumberlands rallied in the final three singles matches, though. Denee Lyttle defeated Rowe in three-sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-0, while her sister Luke Lyttle took down Murray, 6-3, 6-4.
The final win by Bogajo sealed the match, as she defeated Harris in a third-set, 6-3, 2-6, 6-0.
Campbellsville gets back on the courts, as University of Pikeville travels to the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex. First serve goes up at 3 p.m. ET.
