Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Tennis was finally played in the Mid-South Conference tournament on Sunday after two schedule changes and a venue change. The 21
st-ranked Lady Tigers didn't let the prevent them from sweeping Shawnee State University at Top Gun Tennis Academy.
With weather playing a factor in the quarterfinal matches, the first team to get to five points wins and the rest of the matches would be unfinished. The Lady Tigers did that with ease and took down the Bears 5-0.
CU took a quick 3-0 lead in the match after sweeping doubles. The 17
th-ranked doubles pair of
Kaede Amano and
Majella Nobile defeated Shelby Hay and Megan Myers, 8-0.
Grace Rowe and
Sara Coffman won Kendi Congrove and Kathleen Singer, 8-1.
Elizabeth Boik and
Toni Pfeiffer also won 8-1 over Caleigh O'Neal and Abby Brinkman.
In singles, it was Nos. 1-3 that won early and sealed the match. No. 24 Amano defeated Hay, 6-0, 6-0, while Enkhbayar took down Meyers, 6-1, 6-0. At No. 3, Nobile swept Congrove, 6-0, 6-0.
Campbellsville will now play the winner of the University of the Cumberlands and University of Pikeville quarterfinal match at Kereiakes Park in Bowling Green, Ky.
