LEXINGTON, Ky. – With less than a week before the beginning of national competition, Campbellsville track and field competed in the University of Kentucky Relays in hopes of sending a few more Tigers or Lady Tigers to national championships.
Dee Foster was the lone new qualifier for Campbellsville, punching her ticket to the NCCAA Championships in javelin. She threw 29.71 meters, earning seventh place.
Earning sixth place in the 200-meter dash,
Shannon Martin ran the event in 25.50. Then junior
Deja Thompson competed in two events, placing tenth in shot put with a throw of 10.61 meters and 14
th in discus with 31.44 meters.
For the men,
Brayden Russell placed first in high jump with a leap of 1.93 meters and Clay Embry place ninth in hammer with a 44.60-meter attempt.
Campbellsville will begin competition in the NCCAA Championships on Thursday, May 12 in Shawnee, Okla. The team will then compete in the NAIA Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala. beginning May 26.
