MOBILE, Ala. — Top-seeded men's tennis has set itself up perfectly with another NCCAA Championship Pool Play sweep. The Tigers took down fourth-seeded Judson University this afternoon 5-0 at Copeland-Cox Tennis Center.
Campbellsville, which is seeking its third NCCAA Championship, is now 2-0 after the opening day of Pool Play and will now play fifth-seeded Dallas Baptist on Wednesday, May 10 at 9:30 a.m. ET.
Dallas Baptist, which received an at-large bid to the NCCAA Championship, defeated Judson, 5-4, but lost to two-seed Oklahoma Baptist, 2-0, to even its Pool Play record at one win and one loss.
For the second straight match on Tuesday, the Tigers dominated in doubles to set the tone. CU allowed only six doubles points in the three matches.
Chrys Castro and
Alejandro Reyes won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles,
Brendan Aguilar and
Victor Ahlbeck won 8-2 at No. 2 and
Adrian Sabrojo teamed up with
Mario Belloni to win 8-1 at No. 3.
In singles, Reyes moved up to the top-seeded Tiger and won 6-2, 6-0 over John Mittvick. Castro then earned a win over Riley Rowan after he was forced to retire.
The Tigers were also ahead three of the four singles matches that did not finish.
