WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – A quartet for Campbellsville archers captured gold medals at the first ever Mid-South Conference 3D Championship this weekend at the University of the Cumberlands.
The trio of
Joshua Bratcher,
Christina French and
Daniel Wilson captured the Basic Bow team title, while Bratcher and French won the Mixed Basic Bow title.
In the Basic Bow team championship match, Bratcher, French and Wilson edged out Kentucky Christian's Nick Trdina, Olivia Price and Andrew Howell, 59-46. Bratcher and French had a rematch for the Mixed Basic Bow title as the duo defeated Trdina and Price, 48-37.
Haley Arnett rounded out the gold medals for the Tigers after she won the Women's Basic Bow individual championship. Arnett compiled a total score of 31 points on four targets to win the championship.
Morgen Hatfield and
Justin Nelson finished as runners up in the Mixed Recurve championship. Hatfield and Nelson were edged out by University of Pikeville's Katie Karr and Devin Gayhart, 59-56.
As the second seed in the Women's Bowhunter team bracket,
Kristyn Duncan,
Ariel Emberton and
Madison Myatt finished second overall. Duncan, Emberton and Myatt first defeated Pikeville, 170-139, but it lost in the championship match to University of the Cumberlands, 151-143.
Campbellsville took home the bronze in the mixed Bowhunter bracket.
Conner Campbell and Duncan lost its opening match as the No. 3 seed, 105-99, to second-seeded Bethel University. However, the pair bounced back and edged out fourth-seeded Pikeville, 106-91, in the bronze medal match.
The Tigers wrapped up the team events in the Men's Compound bracket.
Isaiah Caldwell,
Michael Nash and
Haoran Bo were the fifth seed in the bracket and suffered a 153-119 loss to fourth-seeded Pikeville in the opening match.
Along with Arnett's individual championship, Nelson finished tied for second overall in the Men's Recurve with a total score of 44. Nelson was edged out by Gayhart in a one-arrow shootout and finished with the bronze.
Hatfield took home the silver in the Women's Recurve with a total of 15 points, while Bratcher was second in the Men's Basic Bow with a 25 point total to cap off the championships for Campbellsville.
Cumberlands won the overall team championship, while Kentucky Christian tied the Tigers in second place. Pikeville finished fourth, followed by Bethel and Georgetown College.
