WILMINGTON, Ohio – Tiger cross-country traveled to Wilmington, Ohio on Friday evening for the programs first time participating in the Jenna Strong Classic.
Sam Kiser was the lone Tiger to break the 27-minute barrier, as he was able to use a 26:14.6 to lead the way for Campbellsville with a top 30 finish.
On a day where the Tiger finishing order shifted from previous weeks, solid performances from
Jiovanni Rivera and
Josiah Harp helped the Tigers in their top ten finish. Being unable to evenly match last week's times, both Rivera and Harp were able to put together their second fastest times in their careers.
Finishing seven seconds apart, Rivera was able to lead Harp with a 27:04.0 and a 59
th place finish. Harp closely trailed in 62
nd place overall.
Jacob Hamilton was also directly on the heels of the group finishing in 27:17.2 for 67
th overall.
The next two finishers for Campbellsville were
Brandon Cox and
Camryn Snapp. The Bracken County natives capitalized on 83
rd and 84
th place performances as Cox was led Snapp by an even two seconds with a 27:39.3.
Chris Stoeckel and
Collin Sheffield were able to work together to finish only two seconds apart as well. Stoeckel, being Campbellsville's seventh man closed out the scoring for the Tigers in 126
th place with a 28:15.8. Sheffield followed right behind in 128
th with a 28:17.7.
Other Tigers that ran in the meet were
Kipkoech Lang'at (28:42.9) and
Briley Shrewsberry (28:47.3).
In the meet, Campbellsville score of 252 helped them to a seventh place finish, and the second NAIA team in the meet. Ohio State was able to gather a score of 31 to take the team title.
Of the MSC teams participating in the meet, Shawnee State used a score of 48 to be the only team to beat CU.
Campbellsville will be back in action on October 26
th, as they participate in NAIA Great Lakes Challenge.
