LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Lady Tigers began their 2019-20 track campaign at the University of Kentucky as a part of the Jingle Bells Open on Friday.
Teychiana Dornan and
Haley Payton put together marks in both the long and triple jumps to lead the Tigers with a pair of top six finishes. The duo got the meet started in the long jump finishing fifth and sixth overall. Dornan led the way with a 5.25-meter mark on her second attempt of the day. Payton then followed with a 5.09-meter jump.
The pair then finished in fourth and sixth in the triple jump, as Payton led this event. Marking a 10.96-meter jump, Payton gathered fourth place, on .19 meters away for an NAIA B standard. Dornan followed with a jump of 10.60 meters.
Jasmin Green led the way for CU in the weight throw as her throw of 15.13 meters led her to a fifth place finish. Brook Coffman was then able to finish 11
th throwing 11.79 meters.
On the track, the Lady Tigers were highlighted by a tenth place finish from
Taylor Cox in the 400-meter dash, running a 1:02.42.
Cox was then a part of a trio of Lady Tigers in the 300-meter dash.
Krystan Armstrong led this group, finishing in 14
thwith a 43.82. Cox followed in 19
th, with a 45.42 second run.
Keniya Smith closed the book on the event for CU, running a 48.02 for 27
th place respectively.
Lady Tigers will take a break as athletes depart for Christmas break, but will return the the track on Jan. 11
th to revisit the University of Kentucky for the UK Invite.
