BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Tiger cross-country opened up their season on Saturday with a runner-up finish at the Mid-South Conference preview meet in Bowling Green.
In their lone 5,000-meter race of the season, Campbellsville was led a by a 4
thplace finish from
Sam Kiser. One second separated Kiser from a runner-up performance as his time of 16:06, narrowly placed him behind Shawnee State's top two finishers.
Following Kiser for Campbellsville was the senior,
Camryn Snapp. Snapp put together solid second half of the race as he was able to gather a 14
thplace finish with a time of 16:32.
The first Tiger pack was led by Bracken County natives
Jacob Hamilton and
Brandon Cox. Hamilton was able to cross the line in 16:46, enough for a 19
thplace finish. Two seconds and two places separated Cox from Hamilton as he placed 21
stin his Tiger debut.
Jiovanni Rivera also put himself in this mix with a sub-17 performance, finishing 23
rdwith a time of 16:57.
Closing out the scoring for the Tigers was
Collin Sheffield and Chris Stoeckel. Sheffield, also making his collegiate debut marked a time of 17:13, placing 28
th. Stoeckel, running with Sheffield for much of the race, finished four seconds behind in 30
thplace.
Outside of the scoring for Campbellsville was
Josiah Harp (17:27), Matthew Fisher (18:04),
Briley Shrewsberry (18:08), and
Ian McAninch (19:22).
The Tigers tallied 72 points as a team, falling to Shawnee State, who put five runners in the top seven overall.

that the Berea College Invite for their first 8,000-meter race of the season.
