LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lady Tiger track and field opened up their spring semester at the University of Kentucky for the Jim Green Track and Field Invitational.
In a meet with stout division I competitors, Campbellsville entered seeking to set quality marks to prepare for the remainder of the indoor season.
Haley Payton did just that as she tallied an NAIA B-standard in the triple jump with a mark of 11.30 meters. Payton's mark narrowly missed the A-standard of 11.35 meters but was enough to place her sixth in the meet.
Also jumping in the long jump, Payton was able to use a 4.61-meter mark for 28
th place. Joining Payton was
Teychiana Dornan with a 4.99-meter jump for 21
st, Ta'Neysha Allen (4.63 meters) placing 24
th, and
Daisha Edelen (4.47 meters) and
Tamia Smith (4.39 meters) in 29
th and 30
th.
Lady Tigers,
Krystan Armstrong,
Tamia Smith, and
Keniya Smith, opened up the meet for CU, with top 50 finishes in the 60-meter dash. The trio later went on to run the 200-meter dash. Armstrong led the group in both events with a 8.16 second run in the 60-meter and 27.02 seconds in the 200-meter.
Allen and Edelen also went on to place 33
rd and 34
th in the 400-meter dash running times of 1:09.88 and 1:13.03. The pair was joined by
Taylor Cox, finishing 27
th in 1:03.97.
Allen also placed 38
th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.68 seconds.
In throws,
Riquel Williams led the way with a 14
th place finish in the shot put (11.63 meters) followed by a 12.70-meter throw in the weight throw for 25
th place.
Jasmin Green, Zoe Box, and
Katelyn Young joined Williams in the weight throw. Green was able to mark a 14.04-meter throw to place 19
th, while Box, Young, and Coffman followed with marks of 12.85 meters, 12.43 meters, and 11.56 meters.
The Lady Tigers will take a weekend off before returning to the track on Jan. 24
th and Rose-Hulman.
