TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Friday evening, the Lady Tigers hopped back on the track as a part of the "Friday Night Spikes" Invitational hosted by Rose-Hulman.
In extraordinary efforts, the Campbellsville was able to capture three school records, highlighted by
Jasmin Green's NAIA qualifying mark.
After posting a school record last season, narrowly missing the NAIA qualifying mark, Green has been in search of this mark for much of her career as a Lady Tiger. In five throws on the day, Green showed consistent improvement before marking a 16.00-meter throw on her last attempt on the day to win the event and hit the standard mark.
Zoe Box joined Green in the scoring column, as she put together a two-meter personal best to place second with a 14.90-meter mark.
Also in throws,
Riquel Williams was able to put together a school record for herself in the shot put throw. Williams used a mark of 11.97 meters to win the event and break the record.
Katelyn Young joined Williams in the event, placing fifth with a throw of 11.03.
The final school record mark of the day came by the way of freshman
Hailey Stallings as she was able to slide just under the 11-minute barrier to run a 10:58.92 placing third.
Miranda Rzendzian was also able to score in the event, finishing the seventh spot in 11:28.77.
While not setting the school record marks,
Teychiana Dornan also had herself a day, leading the Lady Tigers in scoring as she won both the triple and long jump events. Dornan used a 10.67-meter jump in the triple jump and a 5.27 meter mark in the long jump to earn 20 points for CU.
Ta'Neshya Allen joined Dornan in the events finish second in the long jump (5.13 meters) and seventh in the triple jump (9.64 meters). Allen also tallied a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, closing in 10.01 seconds.
Krystan Armstrong also recorded a win for the Lady Tigers in the 60-meter dash with a mark of 8.09 seconds.
Tamia Smith followed in eighth with a time of 8.41 seconds.
Smith and Armstrong then followed that performance as a part of the 4x200 meter relay team, who finished second. The pair were joined by
Haley Payton and
Keniya Smith to run a 1:50.19, picking up eight team points.
The Lady Tigers closed the day with 85 points after tallying 18 points in the final event scored of the day, the triple jump. This gave Campbellsville second place overall, trailing only St. Norbert who recorded 136.
Campbellsville will now make their way back to Rose-Hulman on Friday, Jan. 31 as a part of the Engineer Invitational.
