Grayson, KY – Lady Tigers saw two school records fall in their season opener at Kentucky Christian over the weekend.
Freshman
Jamila Garba has already made her mark in the record books while collecting two wins on the weekend. Her win in the 60m dash of 7.77 was also an NAIA B standard time. The previous record was held by
Maliyah Taylor from the 2018-19 season. She picked up the second win and school record coming in the 200m dash. Her time of 26.39 was able to beat former Lady Tiger Shannon Martins time of 26.52 in 2016-17.
Alexia Boyd and Ricquel Williams joined Garba in the winners circle over the weekend. Boyd a freshman, picked up her first collegiate win in the long jump. Her distance of 5.03m was almost a whole meter ahead of Unions Madison Taylor at 4.09m. Williams won both of her season debut events in the shot put and the weight throw. Her mark of 11.64m was over a meter ahead of Unions Ti'ana Adams at 10.59m. In the weight throw she won again over Adams with a mark of 13.31m.
Junior
Brooke Coffman made her season debut in the weight throw. She earned third place in the event with a mark of 11.34m.
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to return to action in January 2021 at the Rose-Hulman Friday Night Invitational.
