DEFIANCE, Ohio – As they Lady Tigers took to the track once again for the Mid-South Conference Indoor Championships, they were able to capture a sixth-place finish over the two-day competition.
FRIDAY
As the meet opened up on Friday evening, the Lady Tigers were able to gather 21 points through eight events.
On day one, it was in the field where CU was able to record the majority of the points behind 11 points gathered in the triple jump.
Haley Payton led Campbellsville through the event as she used an 11.23-meter mark on her first jump of the day to finish second overall.
Teychiana Dornan and
Ta'Neshya Allen also picked up points for the Lady Tigers in the event with seventh and eighth place, jumping 10.77 meters and 10.50 meters respectively.
Allen later went on to qualify for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles with a qualifying time of 9.39.
Ricquel Williams then followed with a six-point performance, placing third with the shot put, marking a 12.31-meter mark.
The final points for CU on the day, came as the distance medley relay team of
Maggie Parrish,
Taylor Cox,
Hailey Shank, and
Olivia Napier were able to put together a time of 14:02.18 to place fifth overall.
Krystan Armstrong used a 60-meter dash time of 7.93 seconds to earn a spot in Saturday's final.
With eight events scored, the Lady Tigers closed day one with 21 points for fifth place.
SATURDAY
For day two of the meet,
Jasmin Green exploded for a 16.69-meter throw in the weight throw as she was captured the conference title, while throwing for a Mid-South Conference record.
Zoe Box followed Green in the event to throw a mark of 14.33-meter throw for seventh place.
Hailey Stallings was able to gather 10 more points for Campbellsville behind fourth place finishes in both the 800 meter and one-mile runs.
Stallings was able to start her day with the mile, as she used a 5:26.53 to finish just one second off an all-conference finish. She then used a 2:30.21 in the 800-meter run, just missing a podium finish once again.
Miranda Rzendzian recorded three more points for Campbellsville on the distance side behind a 3:22.97 in the 1,000 meter run for sixth place.
After making the qualifying mark in the 60 meter dash on Friday evening, Armstrong followed with an 8.02 second mark to finish seventh overall. Armstrong was able to follow that performance with a 26.53 second run in the 200-meter dash for seventh place once again.
The final points of the meet came through the 4x400 meter and 4x800 meter relay teams. The Lady Tiger 4x400 meter team of Cox, Parrish,
Ashlyn Elmore, and Napier, used a 4:34.46 for eighth place.
Parrish and Napier once again got together for the 4x800 meter relay, to be joined by Shank and
Abigail Coleman for fifth place with a time of 11:20.23.
Through the two days of competition, Campbellsville was able to total 58 points for sixth place in the MSC Championships.
Lady Tigers, Green, Payton, and Dornan will now look to continue their season at the NAIA Championships in South Dakota, March 5
th through 7
th.
