FORT WAYNE, Ind. – As the Lady Tigers sprung back into competition, new CU marks were set near the end of the Warrior Invite.
After a long day in the facility in Fort Wayne,
Taylor Cox and
Jamila Garba opened the final session of competition off right.
Cox making her 2021 debut in the 600-meter dash led the Lady Tigers with her fourth place finish, the highest for the team on the day. Cox was able to finish in 1:43.95 to break her own school record by nearly three seconds.
A few events later, Garba followed to mark a 26.47 in the 200-meter dash, narrowly missing her own school record time of 26.39 set earlier this year. Garba was able to come away with 12
th in the event, coupling with another 12
th place finish in the 60-meter dash.
Ricquel Williams once again came away with solid finishes for the Lady Tigers in each of her events. Williams, opened the day with a sixth place throw of 13.91 meters in the weight before coming back and placing eighth in the shot put (10.57).
Haley Payton was also able to show a season best mark in the long jump, marking 4.93 for 13
th place.
The Lady Tigers will head back north to Fort Wayne in two weeks to revisit Indiana Tech for the Indiana Tech Classic.
