LOUISVILLE, KY – Emma Steff continued her indoor season dominance this evening breaking two school records and earning 14 points.
In the 5,000m run Steff lowered her previous school record which was set at 18:57.99 two weeks ago to a bronze medal finishing time of 18:39.45. Less than one hour later, Steff turned around to anchor the distance medley relay. Steff was joined by
Hailie LaMar,
Alisha Claycomb, and
T'Lea Scott lowering the school record by another two seconds to 12:55.78 earing the silver medal.
Claycomb qualified her way to day two finals in the 400-meter dash. She is the fifth fastest going into finals at 1:03.28.
Jamila Garba will be seeing Saturday action in both of her individual events. She qualified for finals in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. She ran a 7.90 in the 60 going in as the seventh fastest into finals and a 25.30 in the 200-meter which sits at fourth.
Madison Welch was the final scorer for the Lady Tigers on the track. Welch placed fifth in the 3,000-meter race walk with a time of 23:08.82.
Ricquel Williams missed the podium in the shot put when she threw for a distance of 12.29m.
Haley Payton and
Alexia Boyd brought in six points for the team in the long jump. Payton placed fifth overall with a mark of 5.19m while Boyd was eighth at 5.07m.
Lady Tigers are currently sitting in fifth place overall with 28 points.
Day two of the Mid-South Conference Championships resumes Saturday February 19
th in Louisville, KY. Events will begin at 11 AM.
