JOHNSON CITY, TN. – Emma Steff was able to break her second school record in two weeks over the weekend at the Buccaneer Invitational at East Tennessee State.
Steff shattered the previous indoor 5,000m school record held by
Miranda Rzendzian in 2019 at the Mid-South Conference Championships. The previous record was 19:39.68, Steff lowered that school record down to 18:57.99 placing sixth overall in the event. Less than one second outside of a fourth-place finish.
Nina Daman joined Steff in the 5,000m run with her time of 20:54.25.
Ricquel Williams was able to put herself in scoring position as well in one of her events. In the shot put Williams placed seventh overall with a throw of 12.19m. She placed ninth in the weight throw with her toss of 14.54m.
Brooke Coffman was able to hit 12.14m in her weight throw.
In the springs,
Jamila Garba and
Madison Johns were able to earn key experience over the weekend. Garba made the 60m semi-finals with her time of 7.98 placing 19
th. Johns was in the 200m where she placed 47
thand ran a 27.55.
Hailie LaMar and
T'Lea Scott both doubled in the 800m and mile run. LaMar was able to run a 2:39.26 while Scott was close behind in 2:47.49 in the 800m. Scott led in the mile with her time of 5:50.48 and LaMar came in at 5:52.43.
In the long jump,
Alexia Boyd placed 10
th in the event with her mark of 5.23m.
Lady Tigers will now travel to Cedarville, Ohio this weekend for the NCCAA Indoor National Championship February 11-12.
