PULASKI, Tenn. – The #20 Campbellsville Lady Tigers traveled down to Tennessee to take on the (RV) University of Tennessee Southern Firehawks. The Lady Tigers were able to take down the Firehawks 6-1 in their match.
Campbellsville would send out their #1 doubles team of Angela Mendoza and Ariadna Perez for a 6-1 victory. The Firehawks would strike back by taking down the #2 team of Madison Hill and Oriana Espinoza. The Lady Tigers would overcome the defeat with their #3 team of Blaeke Mitchell and Addison Sutton picking up a 6-2 victory to conclude doubles action.
Mendoza would begin singles action for the Lady Tigers and pick up set victories of 6-4 and 6-3. The #2 Perez continued the action with set wins of 6-2 and 6-3. Campbellsville's #3 Mitchell would drop her first set 4-6, but she would recover with set scores of 6-2 and 6-1. #4 Hill would pick up her first set with a score of 6-2. She then dropped her second set 4-6 and was able to pick up the victory with a third set score of 7-6. The #5 Sutton would win her match by picking up set scores of 7-5 and 7-6. The Firehawks would take down #6 Calfee in singles action with scores of 6-7 and 1-6.
The Lady Tigers will return to action on Saturday, March 19th as they will travel to Lebanon, Tennessee to take on the (RV) Cumberland University. That match is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET.
