LEXINGTON, KY – Ricquel Williams had herserlf a day leading the Lady Tigers on a cold and windy outdoor season opener at Transylvania over the weekend.
Williams won two out of her three events on Saturday. In the shot put she won with a mark of 11.81m. In the discus she grabbed the gold medal in the event with a throw of 32.63m. Williams earned the bronze medal position in the hammer throw with a toss of 38.28m.
Brooke Coffman finished in the runner-up position in the hammer throw with her mark of 38.30m. Coffman finished off her day earning two points in the discus with a throw of 28.32m.
Macie Russell earned her first points of the outdoor season with a sixth place finish in the shot put at 9.36m while in the discus she also finished sixth with a mark of 28.33m.
Zoe Box rounded out the throws group scoring with her sixth place finish in the hammer with a mark of 35.64m.
Alexia Boyd was the only other scorer in the field events. Boyd placed fourth overall in the long jump with a distance of 5.03m.
Emma Steff continued her dominant reign at the long distance. She broke her third school in a row with her debut in the 10,000m run with a new record time of 39:08.68. The old school record was held by
Ashlyn Elmore last season at the NCCAA Outdoor Championships at 41:19.72.
Nina Daman made her debut in the distance with a time of 43.10.49 while
Madison Welch placed third overall with her time of 47:15.64.

Jorlette Bernardez, and
Alexia Boyd won the 4x100m relay when they crossed the line in 49.72.
Hailie LaMar returned to form in the 1500m run earning her first win of the season with a time of 5:14.55. LaMar went on to score in the 800m run with her time of 2:37.30 placing seventh.
Hailey Shank was sixth in the 1500m run with her time of 5:41.75.
T'Lea Scott finished in the bronze medal position in the 800m run with her time of 2:35.70.
In the 100m dash, high winds made for difficult running conditions.
Taliyah Hazelwood finished fourth overall with a time of 14.00 and a -5.1 wind. Lewis was third in the event with her 13.82 and a -5.2 wind in her heat.
Haley Payton rounded out scoring in the 100m placing sixth overall with a -5.2 wind in her heat and a time of 14.25.
Payton was the third place finisher in the 200m dash with a -5.1 wind and a time of 28.79.
Taniel James was the final scorer on the day in the 400m dash with her runner-up finishing time of 1:04.37.
Lady Tigers will return to the track on Saturday March 26
th when they travel to Hanover College.
