CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Lady Tigers got off to a slow start against the Knights in doubles play but rallied in singles to bring in a 5-2 victory.
Marian would come out strong against the Lady Tigers as they would take all three doubles matches. Laura Kuebler and Teodora Simion would take down
Oriana Espinoza and
Angela Mendoza by a score of 6-4. The Knights Sarah Wittenbaum and Dana Savarino would win a fight against Campbellsville's
Madison Hill and
Ariadna Perez by a final of 5-4.
Marian would finish off doubles play as Josie Yarbrough and Betija Dusele would take down
Blaeke Mitchell and
Emily Hibbs by a final of 6-2.
Campbellsville would not go down without a fight as they would heat up in singles play by taking five of the six matches. Espinoza opened singles play by winning her match with scores of 6-2 and 6-4. Mendoza would follow up by winning her match 6-1 and 6-3. Perez would continue the winning streak as she would win her match 6-0 and 6-1.
Mitchell would get locked in a battle with Savarino and Mitchell would take the match in three sets with scores of 6-3, 4-6, and 10-4. Hill would also pick up a win in her match as well by taking it in two sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-2.
Marian would take the final singles match of the day as Joelle Leihbacher would take down
Addison Sutton in two sets with scores of 6-4 and 7-5.
Campbellsville will be in top 25 matchup on Wednesday March 30
th when they travel to Williamsburg, KY to face off against University of the Cumberlands. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m. ET.
