CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The #21 Lady Tigers of Campbellsville University women's tennis battled Indiana University East away Friday and then Freed-Hardeman Saturday for their first home contest of the year. The Lady Tigers emerged victorious in both taking the victory 7-0 against Indiana University East and 6-1 against Freed-Hardeman.
The series against Indiana University was hosted by Georgetown College. The #1 pair of
Angela Mendoza and Ariadna Perez emerged 6-2 to kick things off. The duo of
Oriana Espinoza and
Madison Hill followed with a 6-3 performance. Sarah Mitchell and
Addison Sutton took their match 6-0 to end doubles play.
#1 Mendoza went 6-4, 6-3 in begin singles play. No set would be lost by the Lady Tigers all evening. Espinoza went 7-5 and then 6-3 and Perez posted a score of 6-2, 6-0. Hill was 6-0, 6-2 in her contest preceding victories by Mitchell and Sutton.
Against Freed-Hardeman at home, the #1 pairing of Mendoza and Perez fell 4-6. The #2 team of Espinoza (6-3) and Hill as well as the #3 duo of Sutton and
Emily Hibbs (6-2) both picked up wins.
In singles play, #1 Mendoza took her match with two 6-2 performances. Espinoza, the #2 singles player, lost her match. However, the next four games would be Campbellsville's. Perez (6-0, 6-2), Hill (6-1, 6-0), Mitchell (6-1, 6-1), and
Emma Calfee (6-1, 6-2) all would rattle off wins to secure the Lady Tigers' victory.
The Lady Tigers will now be joining the Tigers men's tennis team in Mobile, Alabama as they both will go against the University of Mobile and William Carey University. The Lady Tigers' matches will be Sunday and Monday March 6
