WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – After day one, Lady Tigers are sitting in third at the Mid-South Conference Championships.
Emma Steff was the star of the day for Campbellsville. Steff was able to lock in her first Mid-South Conference individual title of her career in the 10,000m run. She won the event with a move made with four laps to go and never looked back. She crossed the line in 41:28.64 and earned the team 10 points.
Nina Daman earned three points placing sixth in the event at 44:26.53.
The 4x800m relay was one spot off the podium. Steff,
Hailie LaMar, Chisty Shank, and
Marlena Sipes all finished the event in 10:02.21.
In the 100m dash,
Alexia Boyd and
Jamila Garba made their way to the finals. Boyd placed third at 12.10 with an NAIA B Standard and a new school record which was previously owned by Garba. Garba will be in the sixth position in the 100m at 12.32.
Garba lowered her school record in the 200m dash when she had the third best qualifying time of 24.53. Her previous mark was 24.56. Boyd also will be in the finals of the 200m with her sixth place time of 24.98.
Hailey Shank was four seconds off a podium finish in the 3,000m steeplechase. She was fourth overall with a time of 12:17.92. Shank also made finals in the 400m hurdles placing sixth at 1:14.38.
In the hammer throw Campbellsville racked in 11 points.
Zoe Box placed fourth overall with her throw of 41.65m.
Brooke Coffman was fifth at 41.40m while
Ricquel Williams was seventh overall with her toss of 40.92m.
Macie Russell earned her way to a fourth place finish in the javelin with a mark of 29.71m while Williams was seventh overall at 26.29m.
Seven more points were added to Campbellsville's score in the long jump. Boyd was narrowly off a podium spot in fourth at 5.16m while
Haley Payton placed seventh overall with a mark of 5.06m.
Campbellsville will return to action for day two of the Mid-South Conference Championships on Monday May 2
