GREENVILLE, ILL – Campbellsville shined in multiple events on the final day of competition at the NCCAA Outdoor Championships Friday afternoon.
Jamila Garba and
Emma Steff were both once again on top of their game. Garba helped lead the 4x100m relay to a win with her backstretch leg.
LaAuhnni Lewis got the relay started first, to Garba on the backstretch,
Haley Payton was on the back turn, and
Alexia Boyd brought the relay home with her move coming in the final 40 meters of the race.
Campbellsville won with a new school record and NAIA A Standard improvement time of 47.41. Garba turned around in the 400m dash and she was able to pull away with 50m to go in the race and won at the line with a time of 57.60.
The trio of Garba, Boyd, and Lewis all earned nine points out of the 100m dash. Boyd was fifth overall at 12.50, Garba sixth and crossing in 12.52, and Lewis was seventh while running a 12.59.
Garba earned her final All-American of the meet in the 200m dash. She came around the first 100m of the race in the back but was able to surge away to the front with 70m to go in the race and finish runner-up in the race and running a time of 24.60. Boyd came close behind Garba in eighth place earning one point at 26.00.
Less than 14 hours after winning the 10,000m run and earning silver in the 4x800m relay,
Emma Steff won the 5,000m run in dominating fashion. Steff led wire to wire in the race and won by 38 seconds with a time of 19:04.26.
Nina Daman earned three points in the event placing sixth and running a 20:33.92.
Hailey Shank was close to earning a podium and All-American slot to her name in the 3,000m steeplechase. Shank placed fourth in the event and crossed the line in 12:21.86.
Hailie LaMar added four points to her name in the 1500m run with her time of 5:08.42 placing fifth.
Brooke Coffman jumped on the points in the hammer throw. Coffman's second throw of the day was able to land at 43.09m which placed her seventh overall.
Ricquel Williams came in clutch during her shot put outing. Williams placed fifth in the event with her best throw coming on her third attempt at 12.55m.
The final scoring of the day for the Lady Tigers came from the long jump. Boyd placed fourth overall while landing at 5.36m and Payton was seventh in the event at 5.26m.
Campbellsville placed fourth overall at the NCCAA Championships this year with 107 team points.
Emma Steff was named the Track Athlete of the Meet from her performances.
The team will now have two weeks to prepare for the season finale in Gulf Shores Ala. at the NAIA National Championships May 25-27. They will be competing in four different events.
