LEXINGTON, KY – Campbellsville stepped back on the track for the first time since the Christmas break at the Rob McCavy Invitational at the University of Kentucky over the weekend.
Victoria Young was the highlight of the weekend. Young set the school record in the 600m. She replaces alumnus
Taylor Cox on the list with a new time of 1:41.50, placing 16th. Young also came in with a 1:00.30 in the 400m.
The trio of
Jamila Garba,
Alexia Schofield, and
Alexia Boyd were able to finish within .04 seconds of each other in the 60m dash. Garba led the way at 7.84, Schofield was closely behind at 7.87, and Boyd brought in a time of 7.88. Garba turned around in the 200m with a mid-pack finish in 19th at 25.32. Garba dipped under the NAIA B Standard mark to secure her spot in the national championship in March. She needs a time of 25.16 for an NAIA A Standard.
Makiyah Allen earned a top-25 finish in the 60m hurdles. She finished 25th and crossed the line in 9.57.
Meredith Wilson and
Taylor Morgan brought in top-25 finishes in the 800m. Wilson led the way with her time of 2:35.29, placing 24th, while Morgan was one place behind in 25th at 2:39.19.
Christy Shank almost saw a sub 5:30 mile on her afternoon. Shank placed 26th running a 5:31.77.
Emma Steff was in a tight pack in the 3,000m run for her heat, placing 16th overall in a time of 10:54.63.
In the jumps, Schofield was .01m off of qualifying for the NAIA Championships in the long jump. She placed 6th in the event with a mark of 5.49 and needed a 5.50 for an NAIA B Standard. Boyd was 8th overall with her mark of 5.40m.
Macie Russell and
Brooke Coffman brought back top-20 finishes in the shot put. Russell placed 18th on her afternoon with a mark of 9.53, while Coffman was 19th with a mark 9.08m. Coffman also had an 18th-place finish in the weight throw of 11.78m.
Campbellsville will return to the track next Saturday, January 21st, for the Kentucky College Invitational in Louisville, KY.
