LOUISVILLE, KY – Campbellsville combined for six event wins on Saturday at the Kentucky Collegiate Invitational.
The Shank sisters led the way on the distance side of the track.
Christy Shank won the mile with a time of 5:21.22, 5.59 seconds off tying her school record. Sister
Hailey Shank won the 3,000m run with her career best in the event. In the mile, Hailey was close behind in 3rd at 5:25.90, also a PR.
Emma Steff was 5th in the mile in 5:26.64,
Meredith Wilson placed 6th at 5:47.52,
Marlena Sipes came in 7th in 6:01.17. Steff and
Nina Daman were close behind Hailey in the 3,000m. Steff earned the bronze in 11:13.32, and Daman was 5th in 11:25.49.
Makiyah Allen earned her first win of the season in the 60m hurdles with her winning time of 9.48, only .09 seconds off tying the school record by
Ta'Neshya Allen of 9.39. Allen turned around less than 10 minutes later in the 60m finals to place 4th overall in 8.41.
Jamila Garba dipped under the one-minute mark in the 400m with her winning time of 59.65.
Victoria Young set a PR and was on the heels of Garba in the 400m with her time of 59.93.
Kourtlyn Cannon earned the bronze position in 1:03.58, and
Taniel James was 4th in 1:03.88.
Garba led the way in the 4x200m relay with Cannon, James, and
Alexia Schofield on the team earning the victory in 1:47.25.
Schofield continued her dominance in the triple jump this week. She won the event in 11.19m, with
Alexia Boyd finishing close behind in 2nd in 11.01m. Boyd earned her ticket to the NAIA National Championship in the long jump. Boyd hit an NAIA B Standard mark of 5.51m placing 3rd overall. Jakarai Gaines finished 6th in the long jump behind Boyd in 4.77m.
Boyd came close to a win on the afternoon in the 200m. She finished a mere .28 second behind Jozlen Brisbon of Lindsey Wilson in 25.80.
Finishing out the scoring on the track were the final distance events. In the 1,000m run C. Shank led the Tigers in a 2nd place time of 3:10.45. That time replaces
Hailie LaMar's school record of 3:18.43. Wilson finished in 6th in 3:25.28,
Marlena Sipes was .11 second behind Wilson in 3:25.39, and Anna-Claire Carwile was 8th in 3:25.88.
In the 3,000m racewalk, Carwile put herself in the top three with her time of 20:25.22.
Taylor Morgan was 4th in 20:26.88, and
Madison Welch was 5th in 20:37.00.
In the throws,
Macie Russell and
Brooke Coffman brought in key top-eight finishes for Campbellsville. Russell finished 4th in the shot put with her mark of 9.55m, while Coffman was 7th in 8.93m. Coffman's strongest event of the weight throw was able to see her improve placement in 6th with a throw of 11.47m.
Campbellsville will now look towards the end of January and early February training before preparing for the NCCAA Indoor National Championships on February 10th and 11th.
