CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville Tigers hosted the Harris-Stowe State University Hornets on the second and final day of the Lou Cunningham Classic on Saturday afternoon. The two have only met twice in program history. Both matchups occurred in the 2016-2017 season, with each team winning one game. The last time the two played was in the 2016 Lou Cunningham Classic. During Saturday's matchup, the Tigers ended victorious with a 92-70 win over Harris-Stowe.
Chandler Clements, with the help of Jace Wallace, opened things for the Tigers with two. Without missing a beat, Darius Harding hit back-to-back three-pointers. More Harding threes and free throws from Wallace and Clements gave the Tigers an early 11-point lead over the Hornets. Several illegal screens from Harris-Stowe resulted in turnovers in the Tiger's favor. Before the conclusion of the first half, the Tigers managed to keep a ten-point advantage.
Despite shooting 39 percent to their 57 percent, the Tigers have led for the entirety of the first half. Campbellsville has been able to extend and capitalize on their possessions with seven offensive rebounds to their one. In addition, the Tigers scored 16 points off turnovers.
The Hornets started the second half on a 7-0 run, cutting the Tiger's lead to just three points. Campbellsville responded with thier own 13-point run to regain their 16-point lead. With two minutes of play left in the game, Cameron Willis' three-pointer gave the Tiger a 20-point advantage over Harris-Stowe. Before the end of the game, Jordan Graham and Willis hit back-to-back threes. Campbellsville extended their winning streak to four with a 92-70 victory.
Wallace finished the game with 22 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists, two blocks, and two steals. Harding also had 22 points in the game, respectively.
The Tigers will return to action on Wednesday, November 29th, to take on Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The game is set to begin at 8 p.m. ET.
