LOUISVILLE, KY – The Tigers began the 2023-24 campaign on Saturday in Louisville at the Commonwealth College Opener.

Alexia Boyd comes off a multiple-time All-American season in 2022-23. Boyd began her season in the 60m with a time of 7.89, placing 25th. Rookie Piper Clark made her debut for the Tigers in the 200m and 400m. In the 200m, she earned 33rd overall in 26.79 while making a top-ten finish in the 400m of 1:01.25. 

Meredith Wilson was 4th in the 800m run with a finish of 2:40.16. Wilson doubled up in the mile, placing 10th in 6:07.44. After earning All-Conference honors in cross country, Nina Daman made her season debut in the 3,000m run. Daman was 6th overall in 10:54.77. 

Makiyah Allen was a key point scorer last season in the hurdles and made a big season debut improvement on Saturday. Allen was 6th in the 60m hurdle finals in 9.08. 

In the field events, TaMya Davis placed 8th overall in the high jump while clearing 1.40m on her opening height. After earning NAIA All-American honors last season, Boyd returned to her featured event on Saturday. She placed 21st with a mark of 5.00m on her 2nd attempt of the day. Davis was close behind Boyd in 25th at 4.71m. 

Freshman Dasia Garland opened her career for Campbellsville on Saturday. Garland was in the triple jump, where she placed 8th overall with a mark of 10.13m. 

Layla Taylor was top-20 in the shot put, placing 17th, hitting a distance of 9.42m. Jenetta Darnell placed 7th in the weight throw with her mark at 12.35m, and Kayla Barr was outside the top-ten in 11th in the event in a throw of 11.52m. 

Campbellsville will return to the track on Friday, December 8th, at Marshall University.
