HUNTINGTON, WV – The Tigers finished off the 2023 calendar portion of the schedule with multiple school records and NAIA qualifiers.
Alexia Boyd and
KaNiya Douglas led things off for Campbellsville in the 60m. Boyd earned the bronze position with her time of 7.90, while Douglas was close behind in 4th at 7.93.
Makiyah Allen set her first school record of the day in the 300m. She beat the previous record by .76 seconds with a 4th-place time of 44.89. Douglas and
Piper Clark finished back-to-back in the 400m. Douglas was 3rd at 59.00, and Clark was one spot behind in 4th in a time of 59.47.
Allen set her second school record of the day and booked her ticket to the national championship in the 60m hurdles. She was able to run an NAIA B Standard time of 8.98, placing 2nd overall.
TaMya Davis gave Campbellsville another runner-up spot in the high jump. Davis cleared 1.50m on her final attempt at the height. Boyd came away with a 3rd place finish in her primary event of the long jump with a mark of 5.27 from her fifth jump of the afternoon.
Layla Taylor and
Kayla Barr finished the field events out for the Tigers on Friday. Taylor placed 8th in the shot put, with her best throw coming on her second attempt of the day at 9.77m. Barr placed 7th in the weight throw with a mark of 12.52 on her fifth throw of the afternoon.
Campbellsville will now head into the Christmas break and return to the track on Saturday, January 20th, at Centre College.
