CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY – The Tigers fell to Georgetown in their home finale Thursday evening 79-71.
Campbellsville was able to jump out to an early 12-5 lead in the first half.
Keaston Brown and
Javaughn Smith both led the Tigers with five points apiece. Play was stagnant through the first ten minutes of play. Campbellsville had a six-point advantage at the first media timeout of 17-11. The Tigers were outrebounding Georgetown 10-6.
Following the first media timeout of the game, Campbellsville went on a 6-0 run to extend the lead 21-11. Georgetown went on a 9-0 run after the second media timeout in the first half. Campbellsville went for an over five-minute scoring drought. Georgetown closed the first half on a 5-0 run to gain the lead for the first time in the game of 32-29.
Through the first half, Brown and Smith led the Tigers in scoring. Brown had nine points, and Smith had seven points. The Tigers outrebounded Georgetown 16-14 in the first 20 minutes. Campbellsville shot 46.2% from the floor in the first half.
Tigers began the second half with a 10-2 run and regained the lead 41-34 in the first three minutes. The two teams traded baskets over a two-minute period canceling each other's leads, with the teams never being separated by more than a point. Powell came alive in the final ten minutes of the game, with the two teams battling back and forth down the home stretch.
Georgetown began to pull away from Campbellsville in the final few minutes of the game, creating an eight-point gap with four minutes left to play.
Jace Wallace finished the game with game-high 20 points, Brown finished with 13 points,
Jay Milburn had 12 points, Smith finished with 11, and
Jordan Graham had a near double-double with eight points and nine rebounds. Campbellsville shot 50.8% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range.
