WILLIAMSBURG, KY – Patience and persistence was the key for Campbellsville at the Mid-South Conference Championships over the past two days.
Weather delays caused day-one events to run back as far as five hours later than they were scheduled to go off. The women's 4x800m relay was the first event for Campbellsville after the weather delay to get points on the board.

Anna Claire Carwile,
Marlena Sipes, and
Taylor Morgan all scored the early two points for the Tigers.
Sipes was already four events deep in the heptathlon on Sunday. She earned the team's first individual champion of the meet with her point total across seven events of 2,549 points.
Ariana Simmons was the runner-up in the event with 2,497 points.
Hailey Shank gave more early day one points to Campbellsville with a 6th place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase at 12:20.58.
Brooke Coffman got her two-day meet started off on a positive note in the hammer throw, with her 38.87m mark earning 8th. Simmons narrowly missed the podium in the pole vault, placing 4th with a height of 2.25m.
11 points came from the long jump on day one of competition.
Alexia Schofield led the charge in the event, placing 4th with a 5.48m jump.
Alexia Boyd was only .02m behind Schofield, placing 6th at 5.46m.
Jaci Johnson was behind Boyd in 7th with her jump of 4.95m, and
Kourtlyn Cannon rounded out the final point in 8th of 4.83m.
Emma Steff and
Nina Daman had to play the waiting game the longest over the two-day period. The storms caused multiple delays, with only the 10,000m run left to run on day one. With the time being 11:00 PM on day one, they called the event and decided to push it to day two. Steff would go on to compete in the 10,000m, 1,500m, and the 5,000m in one day.
Steff earned the bronze medal in the 10,000m with her time of 39:58.94, and Daman was a close 15 seconds behind in 4th of 40:13.45.
Morgan got the track events started on day two in the 5,000m racewalk. She placed 7th in the event earning the team two points. Cannon, Boyd,
Jamila Garba, and Schofield were .54 seconds off a conference title in the 4x100m relay. The team finished runner-up with a new school record time of 46.61.
Christy Shank earned her first points of the meet in the 1,500m run. Shank was 4th in 4:49.10, less than three seconds off a PR.
Makiyah Allen gave the Tigers eight points across her two hurdle events. She was 5th in the 100m hurdles with a PR of 15.69 and setting another PR in the 400m hurdles of 1:11.32, also placing 5th.
Campbellsville stacked up the points in the 400m. 20 points alone came from the event. Garba led the way with a silver medal and a PR time of 57.40.
Victoria Young was close behind Garba with the bronze medal in 58.84,
KaNiya Douglas placed 4th and dipping under the one-minute mark of 59.56, and
Jaci Johnson brought in the final point in 8th at 1:03.02.
Boyd, Cannon, Garba, Schofield continued their busy weekend in the 100m. Boyd competing in her primary sprinting event, placed 4th and earning five points in a time of 12.20. Garba was 6th overall in 12.55, Schofield came in .09 second back in 12.64, and Cannon was 8th in 12.76.
The 200m was the primary feature for the Tigers this weekend as points go. 25 total points with six athletes in the 200m finals. Garba was the runner-up in the event with a time of 24.75, Boyd earned the bronze medal in 24.99, Schofield was 4th in 25.03,
LaAuhnni Lewis placed 6th in 26.21, Douglas was 7th crossing the line in 26.24, and Johnson placed 8th in the finals in 26.45.
H. Shank and Steff completed their meet out in the 5,000m run. The duo had multiple miles under their belts at this point but still managed to give the Tigers five points. Shank was 6th in 19:26.85, and Steff was 7th in 19:38.66.
Schofield has been the feature for Campbellsville all season in the triple jump. On Monday, she was able to prove that once again. Schofield won the event with a mark of 12.08m. Boyd was close to a podium spot in 4th, with her mark reaching 11.29, and Cannon was the final scorer in the event, placing 6th overall at 10.46m.
Schofield rounded out her busy weekend in the high jump. She gave Campbellsville four final points with a height of 1.40m.
Coffman beat her day-one total in points on Monday in the discus. She was able to place 6th with her throw reaching 31.24m.
Sidney Green placed 8th overall in the event with a mark of 29.62m.
Macie Russell scored in both of her primary events this weekend. In the shot put, she was 8th with a throw of 9.84m, and in the javelin, she placed 5th in 31.60m.
Campbellsville finished with a team point total of 165.50. Cumberland University finished 24 points ahead of the Tigers with 189.50 and the University of the Cumberlands won the Mid-South Conference title with 219 team points.
Campbellsville will have short rest as they are now traveling to the NCCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships May 10-12 in Columbia, SC.
