HUNTINGTON, WV – The 2024 calendar year is off to a hot start on the track as Campbellsville opened with multiple season bests over the weekend.
Alexia Boyd is returning to form early in the season, picking up a 3rd place finish in the 60m with her time of 7.89.
LaAuhnni Lewis finished in scoring position in the event, placing 8th overall in 8.12.
Lewis came back in the 200m with a 7th-place run of 27.07. Teammate
Jaci Johnson was 4th overall in the 200m in 26.31.
Makiyah Allen was .02 off scoring position, placing 9th in 27.09.
Jamila Garba set the school record at 300m, placing 4th in the event at 42.04. The previous record was held by Allen from earlier this season of 44.89.
Piper Clark earned the bronze medal position in the 400m. She was only .74 off from the win in the event with a time of 1:00.06.
Victoria Young opened her sophomore season over the weekend in the 600m. She finished runner-up in a time of 1:39.52, only 1.52 seconds off NAIA Standard.
Meredith Wilson was 9th in the 600m, only .38 seconds off from scoring position.
Hailey Shank finished 9th in both the mile and 3,000m run. In the mile, she ran a season-best of 5:35.65, and in the 3,000m, a season-best time of 11:07.61.
Allen finished 7th overall in her main event of the 60m hurdles. She ran a time of 9.26, .11 behind 6th place. Boyd jumped for the silver medal in the long jump. She was an All-American last season in both indoor and outdoor track in the event. She jumped 5.29m on her final attempt of the day.
The Tigers will now look ahead to Saturday when they will travel to Centre College for the Centre Invitational.
