CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Tigers hosted the Brescia University Bearcats for the second and cumulative day of the Lou Cunningham Classic. Kramer's double-double with rebounds and points (nearly a triple-double with his assists too) earned Campbellsville a victory against Brescia, 74-62.
Jay Milburn made Campbellsville first on the scoreboard with a three-point bucket from the top of the key. The Bearcats retaliated but Milburn was quick to strike again. Marcellus Vail racked up bucket after bucket, continuing to propel the Tigers forward on the scoreboard following his career-high the night before. Brescia stole the lead, however, not for long. Javaughn Smith followed with a three-pointer from the corner and then Dalton Kramer layups only strengthened Campbellsville's momentum. KJ Banks' and Milburn's rebounds maintained the Tigers' control over the ball, closing the first half on the lead, 32-28.
Much like the first, Smith and Milburn scored the first few buckets of the second half. The Bearcats attempted to catch up with aggressive steals, but Campbellsville showed their resilience, refusing to falter at the sight of pressure. Halfway through the second half, Cobe Penny's and Ra Briggs' baskets in the paint amplified the Tigers' advantage to ten points over Brescia. With only five minutes left on the clock, Vail's jumpers preserved the Tigers' buffer ahead. Although the Bearcats kept making runs that chipped towards the deficit, Smith and Kramer's shots from the charity stripe earned them the victory, 74-62.
The Tigers will be back in action, traveling to Mount Vernon, Ohio on Tuesday, November 26th to battle the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Cougars, beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
