Campbellsville places 4th at NCCAA Indoor Championships over the weekend

CEDARVILLE, OH – Campbellsville finishes the NCCAA Indoor National Championship in 4th with 92 team points and two relays earning national titles.

The 4x200m and 4x400m relay teams both brought back national titles that led the Tigers to their 4th-place team finish on the weekend. In the 4x200m relay, Jamila Garba, Jaci Johnson, KaNiya Douglas, and LaAuhnni Lewis won the event in 1:44.31, which was 1.95 seconds ahead of their competition. For the 4x400m relay, Garba, Douglas, Victoria Young, and Piper Clark beat their competition by 3.61 seconds with a time of 4:00.02.

Alexia Boyd punched her ticket to Brookings, S.D., with her 3rd-place All-American finish in the 60-meter finals at 7.70. In the 200m, Johnson was the lone scorer, placing 5th in 26.24. Garba, Clark, and Young gave the Tigers 12 points from the 400m. Garba earned the silver medal and an NAIA B Standard cut of 59.22. Clark earned three points, placing 6th, while Young finished 8th in 1:00.90. 

Hailey Shank had a busy weekend in the distance events. She earned points in the 800m, mile, and 5,000m run. In the 800m, she placed 8th with a school record of 2:23.91. She earned three points in the mile, placing 6th overall with a PR time of 5:20.82. For the 5,000m run, she ran a season best time of 18:21.65, earning 2nd place. Nina Daman earned three points in the 5,000m with her 6th place run of 20:02.85. 

Daman, Meredith Wilson, Anna Claire Carwile, and Emma Steff earned All-American honors, placing 3rd in the 4x800m relay, running a time of 10:42.43. In the field events, TaMya Davis began the scoring in the high jump with a mark of 1.47m, coming off her final attempt at the height, placing 6th overall. Davis and Boyd teamed up for 13 points in the long jump. Boyd was the runner-up at 5.57m, earning an NAIA B Standard mark. Davis was 4th overall with a jump of 5.38m. 

Dasia Garland earned her way to the podium in the triple jump. Garland jumped 10.85m on her fifth attempt of the day, earning 2nd place. 

Campbellsville will now look ahead towards the end of the indoor season schedule. The Mid-South Conference Championships will be on Friday, February 16th, in Louisville, KY. The NAIA National Championships will be held February 29th-March 2nd in Brookings, S.D.
