DANVILLE/WILLIAMSBURG, KY – High winds and periods of rain did not dampen the performances for Campbellsville across two meets Friday evening.
In Danville, the sprints were the key to the meet success for the Tigers. In the 100m, Campbellsville stole the podium going 1-2-3.
KaNiya Douglas won the event in 12.39,
Makiyah Allen earned 2nd in 12.70,
LaAuhnni Lewis was 3rd overall in 12.85, and
Ariana Simmons placed 7th in 13.65 finishing out a 26-point event to begin the meet.
25 more points came from the 200m, with
Alexia Schofield dominating the field by .52 seconds. She won the event in 24.97, Douglas finished in the bronze medal position in 25.78,
Jaci Johnson earned a top-five finish in 5th at 26.03,
Piper Clark was behind Johnson in 6th in 26.38, and Allen was 7th in 26.54.
Clark and
Victoria Young were back-to-back in the 2-3 spots in the 400m. Clark was the runner-up in 59.17, while Young was 3rd in 1:00.13. Johnson earned the final point in the event in 8th place at 1:02.14.
Nina Daman gave the Tigers three points in her effort in the 1500m run placing 6th overall in 5:14.89. Allen won her second 100m hurdle event of the season on Friday. She won with a time of 15.09,
Maggie Jewell was 5th in 17.89.
In the field events,
TaMya Davis cleared 1.50m on her second attempt of the high jump finishing in a two-way tie for 3rd. Jewell earned .5 points in the high jump, placing 8th in 1.30m. Schofield won her second event of the day in the long jump, hitting NAIA B Standard in the event at 5.69m (+2.7) wind. Davis placed 6th overall in 4.97m (+2.8) wind, and
Dasia Garland was behind Davis in 7th at 4.71m (2.2) wind.
Schofield's final event win of the night came from the triple jump. She won with a mark landing at 11.74m. Garland was the runner-up behind Schofield in 11.10m. So far this season, Schofield is undefeated in every event she has competed in.
Kayla Barr earned the Tigers one point from the shot put with her 8th place mark landing at 9.33m. She gave Campbellsville eight more points in the discus with a runner-up finish of 35.16m on her second throw of the day. She earned her final points in the hammer throw with the best throw of 37.02m, giving her 3rd overall.
In Williamsburg,
Hailey Shank placed 3rd in the 3,000m steeplechase in 12:26.74.
The Tigers will return to the track for the Kentucky Invitational on April 19th-20th. They will conclude the regular season on April 26th-27th at the Louisville Open.
